Recently, in an interview with The Times, the subject of Chelsea was raised by her former player – Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The AC Milan player didn’t mince his words when talking about the team he trained with. The English midfielder believes that the London club’s transfer policy makes life difficult for young players who have trouble breaking through to the Stamford Bridge.
– The fans look at the youngsters developing with favour. We felt that they were supporting us. But I think football has two faces: entertainment and business. I think that sometimes if a club with a big budget has youngsters and can buy a fully developed player in great shape for millions, they will want to win [i go kupi]. It’s easier than trusting the homegrown players – he said. – That’s what it was like at Chelsea. It was difficult to play. Even if you have talent, they can bring in a ready-made player who is at the peak of his career. It’s difficult for homegrown players to break through in such conditions. But in my opinion it can be easier if the club has a plan for them – said Ruben Loftus-Cheek, quoted by the website “English Espresso”.
Capped 10 times by England, he made 155 appearances for Chelsea, during which time the 28-year-old scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists.
