PARIS (AP) — French police have released Travis Scott without charge after he was arrested at a Paris hotel following an altercation with a security guard, French prosecutors said Saturday.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said in a statement: “The pre-trial detention order imposed by the police against Travis Scott has been lifted and all proceedings (against him) have been closed because the incident was minor.”
Scott was arrested early Friday morning after police were called to the George V Hotel to arrest a man “nicknamed Travis Scott for violence against a security guard,” according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office. The hotel’s security guard intervened in the argument between the rapper and his bodyguard.
The rapper was in Paris for the Olympics. He watched the United States defeat Serbia in the men’s basketball semifinals on Thursday night.
Scott is one of hip-hop’s biggest stars and his birth name is Jack Webster. He has over 100 songs that have reached the Billboard Hot 100 and has released four chart-topping singles: “Sicko Mode,” “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts,” and “Franchise.”
He has two children with his ex-girlfriend, media personality and businesswoman Kylie Jenner.
In June, Scott was arrested in Miami Beach on misdemeanor trespassing and public intoxication charges after officers said they found him at a city marina yelling profanities at people on a yacht and failing to comply with their orders to leave.
