New facts are coming to light regarding the murder case of 8-year-old Narin Guran in Turkey. As revealed by the evidence collected by the authorities, as well as by the testimonies, one of the main suspects involved in the crime is the uncle of the little girl.
The girl’s uncle was at the center of the investigations from the first moment. The testimonies, as well as the tests on the minor’s body, confirm the suspicions.
The deposit that the uncle burned belongs to a neighbor of the family. The man confessed that he was paid by Salim Guran to throw Narine’s body in the river.
The uncle of the unfortunate girl is a community leader in Turkey, he has been in custody for several days, while on Monday he crossed the threshold of the investigator again.
The neighbor, whose details have not yet been made public, was arrested as an accomplice and is the second person to be charged in the case, which has shocked Turkey.
The testimony of the accomplice who “burns” Narine’s uncle
The accomplice in the murder of the 8-year-old, Narin Guran, in Turkey, pointed out her uncle as the murderer of the minor, while at the same time he mentioned that other people from her family were also involved.
«I killed Arif’s daughter. You will take the body and make it disappear. Otherwise I will kill you and your whole family. I put Narine’s body in the sack in my house. During the investigations, Salim and the policemen came to search an old well in my mother’s yard. After burying Nareen, we came face to face with Salim here.
He didn’t ask me anything because the police were in front. Apart from that, none of Nareen’s relatives asked me anything about Nareen’s dead body. I had previously deleted all my messages because there were too many. I also deleted the messages from the day of the incident. Nobody told me to do it. I am sincerely sorry“, said Nevzat V. in his confession.
Furthermore, in his confession he narrates other chilling events. In particular, it states that “we live near uncle’s house. He got out of the car and approached me. Then we went to his car together and he showed me something wrapped in a blanket in the front seat and said, “You’re going to ruin this.”».
«I saw that it was human and was amazed. Salim Yulhan told me: “Think of your family, I will give you over £200,000.” There was no one around us. Then he asked me if I have any sack in my car. I took a sack from the trunk, which color I don’t remember, and gave it to Salim. He took the blanket, wrapped the child and put him in the sack. The child had bruises and abrasions on his body“, adds Nevzat V.
«He pointed to the river with his hand and said. “Throw it in there. There was a spot with enough water and I left the sack there. I thought someone might find it and put a stone on top. The stone was about 15-20 kilos” concludes Narin’s uncle’s accomplice.
DNA on Narine’s clothes ‘point’ to her uncle
After the confession of Nevzat B., that the girl’s uncle gave him the body of the minor, in order to hide it, new incriminating evidence against Salim comes to light, as his DNA samples were found on the corpse of the 8-year-old during the forensic examination that it was done
A DNA sample of the 8-year-old was also found in her uncle’s car.
Unanswered questions and ambiguities
According to a statement from the judicial authorities of Diyarbakir, the uncle’s accomplice is hiding evidence from the investigation.
«Although the suspect confessed to some of the events, he left some questions unanswered or unclear, giving the impression that he was trying to protect some of the suspects. His testimony, in some places, had contradictions“, the authorities explain.
Who is Nevzat trying to cover? Why was the little girl’s family almost uninvolved in the investigations they did for 19 days, the police and even the army?
Turkish channels cover with continuous live broadcasts the developments regarding the murder that has shocked Turkey. However, they seem to insist on the suspicious role of the mother, as well as a possible secret relationship she had with the uncle. In that she remained silent, although she may have known that he murdered her child.
An investigation has already been opened into the death of Narine’s elder sister.
She was a crippled little girl who died of unknown causes in 2019 and no one paid attention back then.
The suspicious role of the mother
Narine’s uncle had downloaded an app and used it to delete all the messages he had received and sent since the day the child went missing on August 21.
The mother of the murdered girl had the same application. Authorities have been investigating since yesterday whether he was involved in this horrific case. If he knew and didn’t speak up or even worse, if he was involved.
And Narine’s father, however, seemed remarkably cool during the 19 days that his 8-year-old daughter had been missing. At least for now, the authorities released him today.
The crime scene in Turkey
With a graph, the Turkish service of the BBC attempts a representation of the crime in the small village of Tavsadepe Koyu, 2 kilometers from Diyarbakir.
Here is Narine’s house, here is uncle’s house and at a very short distance the Primary school.
From there, 8-year-old Narin started with 5 other classmates to go for Koran lessons on August 21.
The last images of her alive were captured by the school’s security camera. And shortly after, the traces of the child are lost.
The stream where the little girl was found is 1.5 kilometers from the village.
Erdogan’s anger
For the first time in his many decades in power, President Erdogan, right after his cabinet meeting, devoted most of his speech to Narin’s murder.
«The brutal killing of this sweet child set our hearts on fire. Those who took the life of my sweet daughter will be held accountable for it before the Justice. I tell you to know it. We will continue our determined fight against all criminals who put out the light in not only Narine’s eyes, but all of us, be they separatist terrorists, drug dealers, gang members, or unsuspecting neighbors“, said the Turkish president.
People are asking for punishment
The impact of the case is huge in Turkey. People took to the streets. Details of the killing are circulating around the world and it is being highlighted that Turkey is centuries behind when it comes to protecting women and younger girls.
Femicide is not the crime, it is the law.
Human rights organizations are sounding the alarm and accusing the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan of not doing enough to protect women and children.
Over 400 women and girls were murdered last year alone.
