The cabinet presented its government programme today, in which it fully commits to the success of the energy transition, climate policy and green growth. The Netherlands must remain a prosperous country and we are obliged to pass on a cleaner and healthier world to our children and grandchildren. The Netherlands must also become less dependent on other countries for the supply of our energy and critical raw materials.
The key points from the coalition agreement are:
- More sustainable and affordable energy
- Focusing on more stable and clean nuclear energy
- Tackling the full power grid
- Greening the industry
- Seizing new green economic opportunities
- Keeping climate goals within reach
Minister Hermans, Climate and Green Growth: “With this government program, we will continue to work unabated on the climate goals and the energy transition. We are working towards a clean future with green economic growth and the climate goals within reach. I will work with great pleasure and dedication, with a lot of attention for the affordability of energy, removing the bottlenecks on the full power grid and more sustainable energy sources such as nuclear energy.”
In order to grow green, maintain our prosperity and increase our energy independence, the right choices must be made now. Together with existing and new innovative companies and organisations, the Netherlands is growing towards a flourishing, green economy. The existing climate and energy goals are the compass here. We give Dutch entrepreneurship and creativity plenty of space and create green markets. We strengthen and expand the leading position of the Netherlands in a sustainable world.
