Lippe needs more emergency paramedics. The district wants to start a training offensive because of the shortage.
Instead of the current four, there will be 15 training places available for this profession in the future.
The adjustment of the emergency services requirements plan was the topic of discussion at the most recent meeting of the Health Committee.
Seven more apprenticeship positions
Including the positions at the aid organizations and the city of Detmold, there will be 22 training positions per year for emergency paramedics in the future.
According to the draft resolution, the offensive is to be paid for by health insurance companies.
Critics say that this doesn’t help much. The problem is that people often quickly look for more lucrative jobs after completing their training.
Adjustments are necessary
From a civil protection perspective, there is no way around the planned changes in the Lippe rescue service.
When asked by Radio Lippe, they were told that they simply do not have enough staff.
Because there are too few emergency paramedics, the district will probably have to downsize two ambulances and convert them into better ambulances.
These only come in less dramatic cases and are staffed by additionally trained paramedics instead of emergency paramedics.
