At the PKP station in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, railway workers are still carrying out work related to, among other things, the installation of new platform lifts. As a result, for several weeks, suburban trains did not stop at platform one. Now, trains heading to Warsaw are picking up passengers from Grodzisk from that platform. However, the work is still ongoing and is now also ongoing on platform no. 2. When will it be finished?
Let us recall. Works related to the replacement of the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe elevators began in the second half of May. Earlier, in January this year, they decided on a tender for a contractor for this task. And the contractor first had to prepare a design and then start carrying out the works related to the installation of three new elevators. This means a complete set of lifting equipment: in place of the current vertical platforms, so-called passenger elevators with electric drive will appear. The task also involves the modernization of the shafts in which the new elevators will operate.

They will be installed at platforms one and two and at the entrance to the underground from Towarowa Street. In addition, PKP PLK requested in the tender to leave free space in front of the entrance to each elevator. It should be at least equal to the dimensions of the cabin itself, i.e. (1.5 x 2.1 m). Pictograms will appear in front of the entrances to the elevators.
From June 10 until the end of the holidays, there were difficulties related to construction at platform no. 1 – there were narrowings in the underpass, and the platform itself was out of use, trains did not stop at it. Since September, they have stopped at this gauge again.
The works have moved to the area of platform two, where there will also be restrictions and exclusions from use. How long will the difficulties last and when will the residents of Grodzisk see the “longed-for” low-failure elevators?
In a conversation with Grodzisk officials, we learned that PKP PLK maintains the deadline for completing the entire investment and putting the lifts into operation given earlier. Therefore, the lifts should be available from December 13 at the latest.
