This summer, Glovo had a record season in Morocco, with a 40% increase in orders compared to the previous period. (Mars-Avril-May)In a statement, the company explained that the summer heat and travel to the Moroccan coasts have led to a strong demand for delivery services, favoring fresh meals and avoiding outings in the hot sun.
This summer, Glovo served 35 cities across the Kingdom.
Coastal cities particularly benefited from this trend. M’diq saw its orders explode by 715%, followed by Nador (+157%), Oujda (+87%) and Essaouira (+92%). Casablanca users moved to Marrakech, Mohammedia and Dar Bouazza, while Rbatis turned to Casablanca and Tangier. Marrakchis mainly visited the southern coastal cities, such as Agadir.
Glovo also observed strong usage by tourists and Moroccans living abroad. In Essaouira and Marrakech, more than 11% of users had foreign codes, mostly French.
Summer trends also saw an increase in orders for light meals (+51%) and groceries (+23%), including nearly 2 million bottles of water. Sunscreens saw strong demand, with over 950 orders, and the “Express Recharge” service delivered nearly 14,000 refills, facilitating connections between family and friends thanks to a collaboration with startup WafR.
