KAC suffers a 0-4 home defeat in CHL against Fribourg

The KAC had no chance in its first home game of the season in the Champions Hockey League. The Klagenfurt team lost 0:4 (0:3,0:1,0:0) to Fribourg-Gottéron from Switzerland in the Heidi Horten Arena on Thursday evening and have one win and two losses after three games in the European ice hockey premier class. On Sunday, the Carinthians need a win at home against the Polish team Unia Oświęcim to maintain their chances of promotion.

The match was practically decided after the first third. Swedish team player Marcus Sörensen put the efficient guests in the lead after just 69 seconds. Samuel Walser scored in the 13th minute to make it 2-0, and just 60 seconds later long-time NHL player Jacob de la Rose from Sweden increased the lead. While the KAC’s offensive efforts were unsuccessful, Walser was successful again for Fribourg in the middle third (32nd) and thus put the finishing touches on the game.

Meanwhile, an Austrian was successful in a parallel game. In Lausanne HC’s 7:2 win against Tampereen Ilves from Finland, Michael Raffl from Villach scored a goal and an assist for the Swiss. The second Austrian CHL team, Red Bull Salzburg, will play against Unia Oświęcim on Friday (5:30 p.m.) and will be looking to score their second win in three games.
