The celebrations of the Barca pilgrimage in Muxía started this Thursday, but the proclamation on Friday night will mark the official start. It will be at 9:00 p.m. in the Praza do Cabo da Vila. The musical group will thus commemorate its nearly 40 years of uninterrupted attendance at the Barca pilgrimage. Afterwards, the party will begin with the pop rock group Carlos Bau & 80 Razón, as well as the CDC mobile disco with the DJs Toni Seijas, Rafa Astray, Jaygo and Rokiño.
The pilgrimage to Barca, which has the support of the Xunta, celebrates 35 years since it was declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. On the religious side, this Friday the novena ends at the sanctuary and Sunday will be the big day of the festival, when thousands of faithful are expected to participate in the liturgical acts, with the field mass and the traditional procession. The liturgical celebration will be presided over by Manuel J. Fernández Formoso, canon of the Cathedral of Santiago. The image of the Virgin will return to the sanctuary on Monday with the usual procession from the parish church.
The traditional fireworks display will take place on Saturday at midnight. The festival will be accompanied by the Olympus and Atenas orchestras.
