Last July, a useful little innovation made the rounds for WhatsApp users. Since then, the makers have allowed you to mark individual contacts as favorites. This in turn ensures that you can reach these favorites more quickly in the chat overview thanks to a filter. How WABetaInfo reported that references to a similar function have been discovered in the Android version. This is also about helping you organize your conversations better.
WhatsApp developers are working on new filters and lists
According to the report, the developers are currently testing an extension for the chat overview. Specifically, it involves lists and filters. The feature is currently not actively usable in the beta version. However, it has already been spotted in various updates of the Android preview. In a future version of WhatsApp, you will therefore be able to create lists.
You can then add not only individual contacts but also groups to these lists. You can freely choose the group names and use emojis in them. The highlight of the feature, however, is that you can select these lists as a filter in the WhatsApp chat overview. You will then only see the chats with these groups or contacts.

This allows you to better organize your conversations and focus on specific people. An example would be a list that only contains your work colleagues. This allows you to quickly find the relevant contacts or groups if you have a question about your work.
All of this has the potential to drastically improve the overview in the app. This saves you from having to scroll through a single long list of contacts and groups. This could also prove to be a potentially helpful extension for WhatsApp Business users. WABetaInfo gives the example that they could maintain separate lists for new customers, active transactions or customer inquiries.
Unfortunately, it is currently unclear when the new feature will be available. It could be many months before the final presentation.
