Court case in the Pogba family!
In the blackmail scandal surrounding French midfield star Paul Pogba (31), the French judiciary has initiated criminal proceedings against his older brother Mathias Pogba (34) and five other acquaintances. After two years of investigation, those involved must now answer to the court.
What happened? Pogba’s brother, as well as old school friends and acquaintances from a Paris suburb, are said to have tried to extort 13 million euros from the Juventus Turin star. In addition, five of the accused are said to have held the former French international against his will in March 2022. According to investigators, Pogba then gave the suspects 250,000 euros. The 2018 world champion said of the incident at the time: “I was scared. The boys pointed their guns at me.” The five defendants are accused of deprivation of liberty and extortion, and Mathias Pogba is accused of attempted extortion.

Pogba’s former teammate in the French national team, Kylian Mbappé (25), is also indirectly involved in the brothers’ dispute. In 2022, the midfielder told investigators that he was being blackmailed by demanding that the Real star and his former club Paris Saint-Germain be cursed by a marabout, a holy Islamic man. Paul Pogba, however, denied this. Mathias Pogba wrote to Mbappé on X (then Twitter): “I have nothing negative against you, my statements are for your own good, everything is true and proven, the marabout is known.”

Paul Pogba continues to serve doping ban
The 2018 world champion was banned for a total of four years due to a doping offense. After the away game at Udinese Calcio in August 2023, Pogba tested positive for testosterone. The provisional ban followed on September 11. But the B sample he requested was also positive, which confirmed the penalty. The technically skilled midfielder’s career could be over. After all, Pogba will be almost 35 years old after serving his ban.
