The Basque team made six changes to the line-up compared to the match against New Zealand. Malagón and Araujo will start, while Santi will be back.
Javier Aguirre opened his third stint as head coach of the Mexican National Team with a 3-0 win over New Zealand and for the match against Canada, the ‘Vasco’ would opt for a different lineup than the one he used in the Rose Bowl against the New Zealand team.
Against New Zealand, the ‘Vasco’ opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation with Raúl ‘Tala’ Rangel, Luis Romo and Santiago Giménez as starters in the backbone of the team. The rest of the starting XI was made up of a line of four defenders: Israel Reyes, César Montes, Johan Vásquez and Jesús Gallardo; double containment with the recovery midfielders: Luis Romo and Luis Chávez; the offensive midfielders Orbelín Pineda, Julián Quiñones and Roberto Alvarado; and Santiago Giménez up front.

For the match against Canada, Javier Aguirre made six changes to the starting eleven and used players who did not play against New Zealand. However, some names are being repeated for the match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
“It’s not tangible that this or that player is in a mood of three on a scale of ten, or that he is suddenly dragging defeats or failures, or bad moments, but that’s my job. My job is to look them in the eyes, scrutinizing, questioning and getting in there, I will have to draw conclusions, and whoever doesn’t answer, will have to leave!” said Javier after the match against New Zealand.
