Katy Perry received the honorary Video Vanguard Award, which is given as an award for influence on the music scene. She performed her biggest hits in a ten-minute medley. Previous winners include Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake and Madonna. US rapper Megan Thee Stallion hosted the evening.
