For the Czech viewers of the comedy of the century, for the actors themselves, filming with a bittersweet aftertaste. Filming some scenes was not easy not only for the adult actors, but especially for the children, as actor Pavel Nový, one of the fathers of the legendary Apaluch expedition, admitted.
Who wouldn’t remember the funny, albeit unpleasant for some, scene when Pep’s father wipes his son Pepin’s needs with a conifer twig after he’s done with it. The crocodile tears that flow from the eyes of little Cyril Křůpala alias Pepin, were not added make-up artists, but rather the unadulterated suffering of a child star.

“Marie (Poledňáková, director – editor’s note) wanted Pepín to roar. I defended him, my word of honor. But she wanted him to booze and have noodles. He has never spoken to me since. Not with her either. He was really crying and had noodles, it wasn’t made up.” shocked moderator Honza Dědek and the audience Pavel Nový.

And that wasn’t all! Zuzana Gutheisová aka Dášenka really had to go on a snowy march without suitable winter footwear. “The children used to play there. Däšenka really walked in the snow in her boots, and it wasn’t very warm,” admitted Pavel Nový. So it is only good that the children survived the filming in good health. At present, however, for many actors such an approach – especially towards children – would be at least alarming.
