The regional association “Mühlviertler Kernland” has terminated the employment relationship with the long-standing managing director. Chairman Fritz Robeischl announced this in a broadcast on Wednesday night. Due to inconsistencies in project billing he was dismissed.
The disturbance began during a routine project inspection by the responsible department in the state of Upper Austria. According to reports, deficits in bills and retention of funding for the “Dahoam im Mühlviertel” project came to light. The board of the association then immediately began an in-depth study of this and other regional funding projects implemented by the Mühlviertler Kernland LEADER office, said Robeischl. Last Friday, a surprise inspection was finally held in Freistadt. External experts were also brought in. This investigation revealed that management suspected “serious problems”.

Solution with immediate effect
The results of the survey were reported at another LEADER board meeting on Tuesday this week. As a result, the aforementioned resolutions were unanimously approved: the working relationship with the managing director was immediately terminated. From now on, the business will be managed on an interim basis by Chairman Fritz Robeischl. In addition, the board has initiated professional assistance to ensure that the incidents are fully clarified and handled. A tax consulting firm is commissioned to determine the extent of the damage. A law firm takes over the legal representation of the association.
Regardless of the disruption that has occurred, this is intended to ensure continued business continuity. All projects and events in the Leader Region Mühlviertler Kernland can be carried out as planned. This created the framework to ensure that the supported societies and project partners in the sector do not suffer any disadvantages. The former managing director is presumed innocent.
