Tax revenues grew 6.3% from January to August: SAT

Mexico City. From January to August 2024, tax revenues totaled 3 trillion 338 thousand 844 million pesos, which represented a real increase of 6.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023, reported the Tax Administration Service (SAT).

The growth rate in tax collection from January to August was lower compared to the previous period – from January to July – when it totaled 2 trillion 996 thousand 792 pesos, which meant a real increase of 7.6 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

However, in August alone, the agency collected 342 thousand 52 million pesos, which was 8.0 percent lower than the income obtained in July, which totaled 372 thousand 40 million pesos.

Through Income Tax (ISR), 1 trillion 833 thousand 545 million pesos entered the agency in the first eight months of 2024, which meant a growth of 87 thousand 417 million pesos compared to the same period in 2023.

Value Added Tax (VAT) generated 931,998 million pesos, that is, 95,419 million pesos more than a year ago, and Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) generated 424,888 million pesos, which represented 139,952 million pesos more than the same period in 2023.

The SAT explained that the results are due to the implementation of the Master Plan for Inspection and Collection, which has allowed for a level playing field in the collection of taxes without the need to create new ones or increase existing ones.

The agency also stressed that the funds raised meet 100% of the budget set out in the Federal Revenue Law (LIF) as of August 2024.
