LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.- Last night, as part of the 49th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and as part of the international Centrepiece program, Colombian artist Juanes made his acting debut and attended the world premiere of the film PIMPINERO, Sangre y Gasolina, produced by Amazon Prime and directed by acclaimed Colombian filmmaker Andrés Baiz.

In this feature film, Juanes, winner of multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy awards, makes his acting debut and immerses himself in a drama that mixes action, romance and ethical dilemmas. Alongside him, the stellar cast includes Laura Osma, Alberto Guerra and Alejandro Speitzer, who bring strength and depth to this story set in a desert as relentless as the decisions its characters face.

The film explores life on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, where “pimpineros,” gasoline smugglers, face dangerous situations to transport illegal fuel. The story follows Juan (played by Alejandro Speitzer), the youngest of three brothers, who is forced to work for a dark rival. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Diana (played by Laura Osma) struggles to uncover the dark secrets surrounding this terrain filled with tension, violence and mystery.

Pimpinero, Sangre y Gasolina was produced by Dynamo for Amazon Prime Video, will be available in theaters in Colombia starting October 10, 2024, and will premiere on Prime Video later in the year, reaching more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

Juanes’ big screen debut marks a new chapter in his prolific career, proving that his talent transcends music and reaches new horizons.
