Berlin: A decision has been made on the state’s billion dollar rescue of the Meyer Werft. After the budget committee of the Bundestag, the budget committee of the state parliament of Lower Saxony also gave the green light for the aid. The federal and state governments want to take more than 80 percent of the shares in the sick company from Papenburg for 400 million euros. They also want to give guarantees of around one billion euros to get loans. Meyer Werft has full order books, but needs interim financing for new ships.
