Leader of ‘Los Cuinis’ transferred to Altiplano prison

Abigael Gonzalez Valencia, The Kitchenleader of the criminal group The Cuinisbrother-in-law of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, The Menchoand one of the financial leaders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was transferred from the men’s prison in Santa Martha Acatitla to Cefereso number 1, Altiplano. For the past five years he has been litigating to avoid being extradited to the United States government.

The Kitchen is part of an organization that began its operations in the state of Michoacán, and of which José González Valencia is a part, The Chepawho in December 2022, pleaded guilty to “conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, knowingly and with intent to import it into the United States,” the United States Department of Justice reported on that date.

In Mexico, Abigael González Valencia is subject to criminal proceedings for organized crime, operations with illicit proceeds, and possession of a firearm for the exclusive use of the National Army, Navy or Air Force.

González Valencia was arrested in May 2015 and was held in the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 1, Altiplano, located in the municipality of Almoloya de Juárez, in the state of Mexico, where he remained until August 2017, when he was sent to Cefereso 14, located in Gómez Palacio, Durango.

After filing several appeals against his imprisonment in federal centers, he was again interned in Altiplano, and later, from February to July 2019, he was in the Reclusorio Norte in Mexico City.

The CJNG member was returned to the Altiplano, where he remained until May 2021, because after winning an appeal for protection he was transferred to the Men’s Social Reintegration Center in Santa Martha Acatitla, where he remained until yesterday.

Abigael González Valencia has filed several appeals against her extradition to U.S. authorities.
