Cristiano Ronaldo recently spoke out about the retirement of his former Real Madrid teammate Toni Kroos.
The Portuguese, despite his advanced age (39 years old) is still pursuing his career. And his performances are far from being at a standstill, as he recently scored his 1001st goal.
But while he does not yet intend to hang up his boots, Toni Kroos, much younger than him (34 years old), has retired.
For Cristiano Ronaldo, it hastened the end of his career because he still had the possibility of playing several matches before retiring.
“Kroos could have played a few more years, but that was his decision. This is his way of seeing things, we have to respect it. I respect his decision.”said Cristiano Ronaldo.
Toni Kroos surprised by the length of Cristiano Ronaldo’s career
If CR7 believes that Toni Kroos could still play for a long time, the German believes that it will not be easy.
He said it is not easy to play beyond 35 years like Ronaldo and Modric. To achieve this feat, you would have to have an addiction to success.
“Cristiano and Luka are addicted to success throughout their careers. It doesn’t stop”said the German.
This insatiable thirst for victory pushes them to push their limits and extend their careers well beyond the average.
However, Ronaldo and Modric seem indifferent to this prospect. “They decided not to stop at the top – like 95% of all players – but to enjoy football a little longer.”explains Kroos.
