In the 17th century, the Saxon chief mining officer Hans Carl von Carlowitz coined the term sustainability, originally for forestry. It describes the way of doing business in which current needs are met without depriving future generations of their livelihoods. The sports community also wants to live up to this responsibility and set a good example in the area of sustainability, regardless of any licensing requirements from the DFL and DFB. Sustainable, strategic business and the awareness of our social responsibility are firmly anchored in the SGD’s mission statement. Accordingly, a project group was put together that is supported by the employees and operates under the leadership of the management. This once again underlines the priority of this black and yellow matter close to the heart of the matter.
However, since sustainability cannot be reduced to environmental and nature conservation alone, a holistic view of the social challenges in this area is required, especially with regard to the topics of ecology, economy and social issues. With this focus, Dynamo has created a sustainability concept that is constantly being developed and expanded.
SG Dynamo Dresden wants to go its own way here, but uses the internationally recognized structure as the basis for all considerations. Accordingly, the sustainability strategy is structured as follows:
SSocial: This includes the area of our stakeholders. We want to live up to our social and economic responsibilities towards our fans, members, employees, players and partners.
GCommunity: This includes the club management as well as the organization. We want to implement sustainability holistically and in doing so promote and develop the club and our employees and players.
Dynamo: This includes the environment and resources. With our commitment to sustainability, we want to raise awareness of the careful use of resources, draw attention to grievances, act as a role model and minimize the ecological footprint. In addition, we want to develop our living space sustainably together with the state capital Dresden.
Focus & Partnerships
Our primal power lies in solidarity. Especially in the area of sustainability, we can achieve much more together than alone. That is why partnerships are indispensable here. First of all, the SGD is concerned with setting a clear regional focus on the Saxon state capital and Dynamoland. To this end, cooperation with the city of Dresden is being expanded in order to include members, fans and residents. Initial points of contact include a mobility concept for travel to and from the Rudolf Harbig Stadium, planting campaigns in municipal parks, schoolyards or kindergarten areas, and improving waste and recycling management, for example through reusable solutions for drinks and food.
Veolia Umweltservice Ost GmbH is also a strategic partner that has been at the side of the black-yellow coalition for two decades. Veolia is currently calculating the association’s carbon footprint and is developing measures to reduce it. Veolia is also supporting the current installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the AOK PLUS Walter Fritzsch Academy. The creation of a waste and recycling concept is also planned.
Sustainable projects of other SGD partners, such as the Gläserne Manufaktur or Coca-Cola, will be increasingly promoted and included in communication in the future.
In addition, the club is currently preparing and compiling a sustainability report for the current 2024/25 season.
