A new scandal surrounding the withdrawal of the new external debt – 2024-09-10 17:21:18

/ world today news/ A new scandal surrounding the withdrawal of the new foreign debt worth BGN 16 billion has seen the parliamentary group of “BSP – Left Bulgaria”.

In the National Assembly, deputies Rumen Gechev, Chavdar Georgiev and Dimitar Gorov commented on a “scandalous confession” on the radio broadcast of Diana Yordanova from GERB this morning regarding the way in which the four banks were determined to consult on the issuance of the new debt.

“These 4 banks were chosen because very recently, about 2 months ago, they expressed readiness and supported the new Bulgarian government, unfortunately for the withdrawal of 3.5 billion euros to support KTB, which you bankrupted. This was part of the conditions. Besides this, one clarification, these four banks will not service the issuance of the debt during the entire 3-year period, and after the first tranche the fan opens and there is an opportunity for other banks to participate in consulting this debt,” quotes Diana Yordanova from this morning Dimitar Gorov.

He explained that here the question arises whether the granting of a loan was a condition for repaying the commitments to KTB by the state, the imitation of a new debt of 16 billion BGN. What makes it necessary to use the commissions of these banks to buy the trust in Europe and should the Bulgarian citizens ultimately pay the price of the support for this government in an international aspect, asked Dimitar Gorov.

According to him, this confession of Diana Yordanova is extremely scandalous and is another condition for the BSP not to support the government’s request.

(In response to a question from BGNES already on February 12, after a meeting of the budget committee, Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov stated that “the assessment of why there are four banks and whether they are the right ones was made on the basis of which global banks agreed at the end of last year to help the government with a bridge loan to repay the guaranteed deposits of the citizens in KTB. Even then, he admitted that “part of the condition of these banks to help us then in the short term was that they provide bridge financing, after which is heading towards an emission program for the next few years”. – note ed.)

In this regard, today the BSP asked since when the government and GERB knew that Bulgaria would issue this debt, since they advocate another thesis – that it is an unavoidable necessity for the functioning of the state and they made a decision practically very soon. “At the moment, we are suffering the consequences of the agreements of the finance minister and the prime minister”, said Chavdar Georgiev and announced that “those in charge absolutely drove him through the millet, without considering the laws”.

The confession on national radio of a corrupt practice is a global scandal, Rumen Gechev added. According to him, there will be many other world banks that will understand that the Bulgarian government has deceived them and is thanking 4 banks, by pre-deciding a possible competition on who will realize the Bulgarian debt.

“Instead of realizing a debt at a lower price, the heroes negotiating from the Bulgarian government have negotiated scandalous conditions. This is a recognition of the deputy chairman of the budget committee of the National Assembly,” he emphasized.

Gechev also commented on another big issue with the new debt. It is clear from the draft law for ratification that “the treaties on which the medium-term program is based set several restrictive parameters,” Gechev quoted the agreement and drew attention to another emphasis: “These treaties are the basis of the government’s medium-term program.” “Having heard what happened in secret talks with these 4 banks, it turns out that it is not the Bulgarian government that writes medium-term programs, but the financial sharks in New York and London write the programs of the Bulgarian government and they have dictated 16 billion BGN to the Bulgarian government in order to swallow well, to earn several hundred million.

The BSP also appealed to the chief prosecutor, who, according to them, should check how competition laws are being eliminated and how gifts are negotiated at the expense of the Bulgarian people.

Rumen Gechev called Menda Stoyanova’s statement that if this new debt is not paid off, a moratorium on the payment of external debts may become a gross manipulation. “This is a statement that a third-grader will refute,” Gechev said. He was adamant that in the voted budget for 2015, the means for paying debts were provided for up to a penny. Bangladesh, Somalia, Brazil, Bulgaria, the USA and Japan will adopt a budget for 2016, he explained and was categorical that such statements by Stoyanova are devoid of any sound logic and contradict common sense.
