On Wednesday (11.09.2024) at 8:45 am, WWF Colombia and the Administrative Department of Environmental Management (Dagma), will present at the main auditorium of the Cali Cultural Center the results of the National Survey on Biodiversity and Climate Change.
Through 1,703 surveys (250 carried out in Cali), the entities in question were able to learn the perception of Colombians about the biodiversity. This is a fundamental input in the task of generating a baseline that evaluates the appropriation and willingness of the population to protect biodiversity.
At the same time, it enables the construction of an input that serves as a tool in the formulation of a public policyaimed at stopping the loss of biodiversity in Colombia.
In this survey, conducted among men and women over 18 years of age and of all socioeconomic levels, participants were asked about aspects such as General understanding of biodiversity and climate change; the relationship between biodiversity and climate; the relationship between biodiversity and climate change and everyday life; key actors for the protection of biodiversity; the relationship between food and impacts on nature and four other additional thematic axes.
For the population surveyed nationwide, the Major crises facing humanity today are the climate change (70%); the plastic pollution (63%) and the loss of biodiversity (34%).
It is surprising that in Cali, the host city of the COP16the scale is headed by the climate change (with 65%), followed by the plastic pollution (53%) and the Wars over access to natural resources (31%). The loss of biodiversity is outside the top 3 with 30%.
To be one of the most biodiverse countries in the world per square meter It is a source of pride for Colombians in a 44%while for the people of Cali this feeling reaches the 51% of the population.
