Controversy over video of Harry and Meghan after their message

Netflix shared a teaser for a new documentary produced by Harry and Meghan on Monday evening – at a very inopportune time, according to many fans.

On Monday evening, the British royal family released a moving video on social media. In the short clip, Prince William and Princess Kate provide private insights into their family life. The 42-year-old also shared a moving message: Six months after her cancer diagnosis, Princess Kate has finished her chemotherapy. She is now concentrating on “staying cancer-free.”

The news made headlines around the world. Almost two million users liked the post and several thousand people commented on it with loving words. King Charles III, who also suffers from cancer, also reacted to his daughter-in-law’s news. There has been no reaction from Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan so far.

Instead, less than two hours after the video message, the teaser for their new Netflix project was released. “Polo,” the new documentary series about the sport’s global elite, was promoted on Netflix’s social media on Monday, September 9. The X-post states: “‘Polo’ is a new documentary series that follows elite global players and offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of sport. From Archewell Productions and Boardwalk Pictures, premiering this December only on Netflix.”

According to the Daily Mail, there is no evidence that the Netflix announcement was planned in connection with Kate’s video – but the timing seems unfortunate. Many users agree. “While William and Kate release an emotional video celebrating the end of the princess’s chemotherapy, two hours later the stupid prince and his stupid wife release a teaser for their latest Netflix flop,” commented one user, for example.

“Releasing this at the same time as the Princess of Wales update is spiteful and when you consider that the silly polo show doesn’t come out until December, it’s a whole bunch of embarrassment, disgust and jealousy!” said another.

William and Kate’s video was filmed in Norfolk and shows the couple in intimate moments with their three children and Kate’s parents. The princess stressed: “As the summer draws to a close, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally finished my chemotherapy. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown path.”

Cancer is “complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.” This time has reminded her and William “above all to think about the simple but important things in life that so many of us often take for granted, and to be grateful for them. To simply love and be loved.”
