Baldur’s Gate 3: Patch 7 is not the end

There might be more to come in Baldur’s Gate 3 than we previously thought.

Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 has just landed on the PC and is expected to make its way to consoles in October. It was actually supposed to be the last “major” content update. After that, only fixes and additions such as photo mode and cross-platform co-op were announced.

Now, however, Larian’s Head of Publishing Michael Douse has posted a number of mysterious posts that make it sound like there is more content coming our way.

Larian teases more new content for Baldur’s Gate 3

Douse explains in a post on X (Twitter) regarding Patch 7:

Good news, kids. This is not the final update.

In and of itself, this isn’t really that big of news, as some players are still eagerly awaiting the promised features mentioned above that are still not included in Patch 7. But a reply post suggests that there are likely to be more announcements to come.

We’re not going to talk about what’s coming next for the game because that would put undue pressure on the developers, but we’re doing things that we said were still coming and the cooks have to cook.

Douse is not entirely clear here, as on the one hand he talks about the content that has already been announced, but on the other hand he also explains that there are things he cannot yet talk about. But the latter only seems to make sense if there are still things we don’t know about.

Further content may still be forthcoming

So we can really look forward to seeing what else Larian has in the pipeline. However, it will probably be a while before another major update appears. Larian recently announced that the console implementation for Patch 7 is taking longer than expected.

Originally, the release was planned to be immediately after the PC release, but the expected release has now slipped to October. Patch 7 brings improvements to the split screen in local co-op, among other things, and adds a whole series of new bad endings. And there is finally a fish army for everyone who ordered one in Act 1.

What would you like to see in another major patch?
