Anyone looking for high-quality fashion, shoes, decorative items and small furniture at greatly reduced prices will soon find what they are looking for at Limbecker Strasse 34-38. The “Vamino” store will open there on Saturday, September 14, as part of the “Sustainable inner cities and town centers in North Rhine-Westphalia” funding program. The flagship brand is Carlo Colucci. The range, which is sold by Murad Rezgan’s team on the ground floor and basement, also includes other popular brands such as Hilfiger, Hummel, Calvin Klein and Nike. “We are very pleased that ‘Vamino’ has settled in. This will finally resolve the vacancy in the prominently located property on the upper Limbecker Strasse,” says Theresa Schmid, city management employee at EMG – Essen Marketing GmbH, which is responsible for organizing the funding program for the city of Essen. At the end of 2021, the fashion chain “H&M” moved out of the property after 37 years. The sales areas have been empty since then.
The state funding program offers the city the opportunity to rent shops in the city center and sublet them for only around 20 percent of the old rent. This gives the subtenants the chance to settle in a prime location for a low rent. The aim is for the concept to become so established there that it can continue to exist even after the funding period. As part of the previous state funding program, which expired at the end of 2023, EMG managed to rent eight shops in the city center, one shop in the southeast district and three shops in Steele in 2.5 years.
