Omroep Flevoland – News – One dead and two seriously injured in shooting in Dronten residential area

The police confirmed that one person was killed in the shooting at the Blaasbalg in Dronten on Monday. It was a man. Two others were seriously injured. Their identities have not been released. A suspect was arrested almost immediately after the incident, the police said.

The deceased victim was lying next to a parked car. His body was covered with a white sheet, which made it clear quite quickly on the spot that help for this person was of no use. The police were only able to officially confirm his death late on Monday evening, due to the chaotic circumstances surrounding the investigation. The victim’s relatives also had to be informed first.

The incident happened around 16:15 in the normally quiet street. De Blaasbalg is located in the residential area of Dronten-West. In the courtyard there are several rows of houses around a playground. The shooting happened at the parked car in front of a house. The area was cordoned off and white screens were placed to block the view of the victim.

EOD involved in investigation
Mayor Jean Paul Gebben of Dronten was at the crime scene on Monday evening to be informed about the situation. Gebben did not want to say anything about the violent event in his municipality.

Early in the evening, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service of the Ministry of Defence also arrived in the street. The EOD assisted with the investigation because there were signals that there might have been an explosive, or something that looked like it, in the immediate vicinity of the shooting. The outcome of that investigation was not yet clear late Monday evening.

Traumateam
A trauma team landed Monday afternoon with a helicopter near the incident to assist with the relief efforts. The two seriously injured were taken to hospital by ambulance.
