Washington. The trial of Mexican drug trafficker Ruben Oseguera Gonzalez, alias ‘The Little Menchito’ began on Monday in the US capital, more than four years after his extradition to account for his activities in the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
After the jury selection, the first witness appeared: Óscar Nava Valencia, alias “El Lobo”, former leader of the defunct Millennium Cartel and who was the main witness in the trial against the former Mexican Secretary of Security, Genaro Garcia Luna.
“El Lobo” recognized “Menchito” at the request of the prosecutors. “Rubén Oseguera González, they called him alias Menchito,” he said, while pointing to El Mencho’s son, and said that he was the latter’s number two when El Mencho was the boss of the Milenio Cartel in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
Nava said that he met “Menchito” in 2005, in Guadalajara. “In the meetings we had with his father, with his uncles, that’s where they introduced him to me.” According to his testimony, Rubén Oseguera Gonzalez He was already dedicated to marijuana traffickingmethamphetamine and cocaine. He was also in charge of security for drug shipments. “They were so that he could learn about things, about the business, both about his father and the company (…) I saw him frequently, more or less once a month,” Nava said.

By 2008, Mencho decided to enter the methamphetamine business. And with him, his son, “El Lobo” assured: The Milenio Cartel provided the precursors and ephedrine to “Mencho” and his son to produce the methamphetaminewhich used to be sent by plane to Tijuana, then transported by land to California and from there began distribution.
“El Menchito” faces four charges for manufacturing and distribution of illicit substancesas well as possession of weapons.
Oseguera Gonzalez He was arrested in 2015 in his native Mexico, and was extradited in February 2020.
