Dak Prescott becomes the highest-paid player in the NFL, the most important competition in American Football. The American quarterback owes this to a very lucrative contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.
The 31-year-old Prescott will earn $240 million (approximately €216 million) over four years, according to the NFL, as well as an $80 million signing bonus.
He trumps big names like Joe Burrow, Jordan Love and Trevor Lawrence, who also recently signed an improved contract. Prescott is seen as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Despite this, Dallas Cowboys have been waiting for success for years. The last NFL win dates back to 1996. Expectations have been high for years, because the Texan club is seen as one of the most popular and richest in the NFL. The leading business magazine Forbes even listed the Dallas Cowboys last year as the sports club that generates the most money.
The Cowboys’ wealth has little bearing on what they can offer Prescott. NFL teams are capped on payroll, which increased by tens of millions this year. Each team is allowed to spend a maximum of $255 million on salaries for its entire roster this season.
