Ernst-August von der Wense will be the legal advisor for the city of Neustrelitz. He will take up the advertised position, for which he was awarded, on October 1st, as he confirmed to me in response to an inquiry that evening. Due to the incompatibility of office and mandate, von der Wense is resigning as city representative from the CDU faction. Valentin Lunkenheimer will take his place. At the same time, the representatives must elect a new mayor. The Christian Democrats, who are the strongest faction in the city parliament, have the right to propose a candidate.
After 20 years of local politics in the city council, including 13 years as committee chairman for urban development and construction and five years as mayor, it is not easy for him to step down, the 58-year-old told Strelitzius. “I would like to thank everyone who has given me the trust and confidence to lead and represent the city council as its mayor. This vote of confidence, especially with the re-election in July 2024, has strengthened me in my work. I really enjoyed my work as committee chairman and as mayor and I also received a lot of positive feedback from the members of the city council, the city administration, but also the citizens,” said von der Wense. He always tried to find balance and have a good relationship with everyone. “I very much hope that my successor will also be given such a vote of confidence.”
Ernst-August von der Wense has been a lawyer at the Conze Rechtsanwälte law firm for 25 years and is a specialist in administrative and agricultural law. Recently, the amount of time he spent on voluntary work was no longer proportionate to his professional and family obligations, as he told me. “The advertisement for a legal advisor gave me the opportunity to combine my work for the city with my profession.” Ernst-August von der Wense will definitely remain loyal to the CDU. It is a great pleasure to be a member of the CDU in Neustrelitz at the moment.
