Karolina Kucharczyk became the champion of the Paralympic Games in Paris in the long jump (T20 class), winning her third gold medal, after successes in London in 2012 and Tokyo in 2021.
In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro she took second place in this competition.
On Friday, she only needed 5.82m to win, 21cm off her Paralympic record from Tokyo. Brazilian Zileide Cassiano da Silva came in second with 5.76, while Turkish Fatma Dalma Altin came in third with 5.73.
This is the fourth medal won by Poles on Friday. Earlier, Barbara Bieganowska-Zając won gold in the 1500 m race (T20 class), while the bronze medals were won by Maciej Lepiato in the high jump (T64) and Michał Dąbrowski in the wheelchair épée.
The Polish national team has won 21 medals: seven gold, five silver and nine bronze. The Polish national team is close to equaling the achievement from Tokyo, where they won 25 medals, including seven gold.
The Summer Paralympic Games in Paris will last until Sunday. (PAP)
