VIDEO. 2024 Paralympic Games: “It really hurts a lot…” The distress of Frenchwoman Nantenin Keita, in tears after her final

The French flag bearer finished sixth in the 400m final, her favourite distance, this Saturday 7 September at the Stade de France. A race at the end of which she burst into tears.

The flag bearer of the French delegation, Nantenin Keita, finished sixth on Saturday, September 7, in the final of her favorite distance, the 400m in the T13 category, at the Paris Paralympic Games which end on Sunday.

Applauded upon her arrival in a packed Stade de France, Nantenin Keita completed the distance in 57.43 seconds, far behind the Brazilian winner Rayane Soares da Silva, who set a new world record in 53.55 seconds. The Frenchwoman could not help but shed a few tears of disappointment after crossing the finish line.

“I’m disappointed, I feel like I wasn’t there, I didn’t have the same legs as the day before yesterday,” the woman who came third in her series told France Télévisions. Before continuing: “I don’t feel like I really expressed myself. I’m so disappointed, everyone was there to encourage me, it’s the first time my family came to see me run and I’m leaving like this. It hurts my heart, really, really, really badly. I’m sorry but I can’t express anything else today.”

Also registered for the 100m, she had not made it past the heats. Nantenin Keita, 39, was competing in the T13 category, for visually impaired athletes who can run without a guide.
