Düsseldorfer EG moves into the final in Dresden after victory over Nuremberg, Frankfurt wins final in Graz against Munich, game abandoned in Tilburg

Die Düsseldorfer EG won the DEL-internal test match at the Sachsenlotto Cup in Dresden against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers won 3-0. Henrik Haukeland, back from the Olympic qualification with Norway, kept a clean sheet in several promising Nuremberg attacks. The DEG was more ruthless: Drake Rymsha scored to take the lead, and in the middle period Alexander Ehl and Philip Gogulla, who had returned to the squad, added to the scores in the power play. Evan Barrat (Nuremberg) and Tyler Angle (DEG) crossed fists in the middle period.

In the final of the Sachsenlotto Cup, Düsseldorf will face HC Verva Litvinov on Sunday at 5.30 p.m. The Czechs defeated the hosts Dresden Ice Lions (DEL2) in the second semi-final with 5:0. Three power play goals and significantly greater effectiveness were the reasons for the Extraliga team’s victory. Nuremberg will face Dresden in the small final at 2 p.m.

Another DEL-internal test duel took place in Graz, in the final of the Energie Steiermark Trophy: The Lions Frankfurt and the EHC Red Bull Munich met – a game with seven goals and many penalties. Konrad Abeltshauser put Bayern in the lead with a shot that hit the crossbar. Cameron Brance, following a power play, and Julian Napravnik in a two-man power play turned the game around in the middle period. Andreas Eder equalized to make it 2-2 while still in the minority, but Dominik Bokk put Frankfurt back in the lead before the break. A game on a knife edge with many penalties, including in the final period. Three seconds before the end of regular time, Chris DeSousa equalized for Munich in a power play to make it 3-3. First division teams from the PENNY DEL and the Swiss National League also crossed bat blades twice. Schwenninger Wild Wings tested against EHC Kloten. At 2:3 after extra time, Zach Senyshyn and Tyson Spink turned the game around with a double strike after Daniel Audette’s 0:1 in the power play. However, ex-DEL striker Tyler Morley equalized – and Bernd Wolf decided the game in favor of the men from Zurich Airport.

Die Adler Mannheim in turn, played against the SCL Tigers in Langnau as part of their tour of Switzerland and lost 1:4 after conceding three goals in the final third. The DEL2 league team EV Landshut played against HK Olimpija Ljubljana (ICE Hockey League) at the Hansjörg Brunner Memorial in Meran (South Tyrol). The Lower Bavarians won 5:2 thanks to four goals in the final third. Tor Immo, the player of the game, was on the scoresheet twice, while Julian Kornelli, Luce Zitterbart and Andreas Schwarz contributed the other Landshut goals. On Sunday, the EVL will play its dress rehearsal against hosts HC Meran.

In the test duel between two teams of the Oberliga Nord at the Westenergie Cup in Essen, the game was abandoned: the score was 6:0 after goals by Jay Huisman (four), D’Artagnan Joly and Ties van Soest for the Tilburg Trappers against the Herforder EVwhen the match ended after two periods. Herford had only eleven players available due to illness and injuries – Niklas Hildebrand, Timo Sticha and Michael Schaa were three more absent during the match. Instead of playing a third period, both sides agreed on a penalty shootout, which Herford won 2-0. In the final of the tournament, Tilburg will face the Mosquitoes Eatingwhich the Foxes Duisburg defeated 5-0.

Southern Oberliga EV Lindau played against the Swiss second division team EHC Arosa and won 4:1. Lindau’s goals were scored by Steffen Tölzer, Zan Jevzovsek and Vincenz Mayer in the two-man majority and Adriano Caricola with an empty net goal. Northern top division team Rostock Piranhas faced Tyringe Hockey, a Swedish third division team, and won 4:3.
