Franco Escamilla, one of Mexico’s most renowned comedians, has become a trending topic on social media following his daughter’s 15th birthday celebration. Videos and photos from the event, where the stand-up comedian is seen dancing with his daughter, were widely shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. However, attention soon turned to criticism of some of the controversial jokes Escamilla has made about obesity in the past.
During the party, Franco Escamilla was accompanied by his wife and his other son, who joined in the choreography of the celebration. However, users on social media, upon seeing the video posted by the account “Porktendencia”, were quick to recall some controversial comments made by the comedian.
One of the most revisited tweets is from 2012, when Franco posted: “You are so fat that instead of XV you had XXXL hahaha I didn’t understand.” This post generated criticism at the time and is once again a topic of conversation after his daughter’s fifteenth birthday.
Another joke that has been revived says that “a chubby fifteen-year-old looks like a piñata.” Another comment by Escamilla that has circulated on social media recently was: “A true friend is someone who talks to the fat or ugly girl so that you can take the phone away from the pretty girl.”

These comments have fueled controversy and the comedian has been singled out for “not putting up with the bullying that he himself perpetuates and sells as black humor.”
Internet users highlighted the apparent contradiction between Franco Escamilla’s ability to create “black humor” with sensitive topics and the lack of acceptance when those same topics are applied to him or his family.
“With the ‘black humor’ that Franco Escamilla boasts, the guy must be having a blast with the racial jokes about the ‘diabetes squad,’” commented one user ironically.
These opinions are not new for the comedian, who had already been recently criticized for making fun of Arath de la Torre’s anxiety crisis at La Casa de los Famosos México 2024. On that occasion, while his friend Iván Fematt, “La Mole”, was making fun of the actor, Escamilla burst out laughing, which was considered insensitive by many users.

Criticism of their jokes has rekindled the debate about the limits of humor and how those who practice it should be aware of the possible repercussions. Some users pointed out that comedians from Monterrey are basically people who “get along, but can’t stand each other.”
“Suck and suck the royals [diciendo] “That his humor is not for everyone, but when the source of humor is for one of their own, then they get offended hahaha,” they said on social media. “You spit up and it fell on your face,” said other comments.
The video of Franco Escamilla’s daughter’s 15th birthday party continues to be a viral audiovisual that has generated all kinds of fatphobic jokes, intentionally made by Internet users to teach the comedian a lesson.
