Hamburg flea market: Prop rental sells individual pieces starting at one euro
The prop rental company Items was opened 25 years ago by Lukas Grossmann’s aunt Maria Grossmann. From the beginning, the focus was on high-quality ceramics that were used in photo productions on the subject of food and drink.
Many unique items at the flea market have already been prominently photographed – for example in a cookbook or magazine.

For many years, one of the biggest customers was the Hamburg publishing house Gruner + Jahr, which was sold to the RTL Group two years ago. Lukas Grossmann says: “The decline of large publishing houses, especially Gruner + Jahr, has led us to close the distribution center in Oelkersallee and reduce our operations to a minimum. All in all, it was no longer profitable.” Where and how the future of Items will continue will be announced via the Rental company’s Instagram profile be communicated.
