Evelin Banev-Brendo, who is serving a sentence in the Sofia Central Prison, has sold his construction empire, “Weekend” reports, referring to data from his inspection.
The deal for the company “Property Group Bulgaria”, which owns a hotel in the center of Sofia and several closed complexes, was signed at the end of July this year, when Banev is already serving his sentence for money laundering in the Central Sofia prison.
The name of the new owner, the tycoon Todor Shterev, sounds no less incredible. He is known to have a medium-sized auto parts business, and has never had an interest in construction and real estate.
In fact, Brendo does not need to leave the cell to sign the deal with Todor Shterev. All he has to do is give orders to his lawyers and agents to set the procedure in motion, lawyers explain.
The company “Property Group Bulgaria” is formally owned by the designer Yana Haddam, who organizes reviews for Banev’s wife Monika Dobrinova and Georgi Velev-Palachinkata, whose child Brendo is godfather.
The company owns real estate and money in its bank accounts for over 14 million BGN. This does not prevent Shterev from paying only BGN 50,000 for 100% of her shares. The subsidiary companies of “Property Group Bulgaria” are far more interesting and expensive.
The pearl in the crown is “Flavia Consult”, which is also the golden property hen of the empire. The business of pouring concrete has long been known as one of the best ways to legalize money of obscure origin.
The latest project of “Flavia Consult” is the Barovo gated complex “Oasis Residence”. According to the plan, it will have hundreds of single-family houses and small blocks with a built-up area of over 20,000 square meters, surrounded by a huge park with a view of the Vitosha mountain. So far, several of the planned 40 blocks have been erected, and construction continues in full force.
“Property Group Bulgaria”, bought by Todor Shterev, is also the owner of the capital’s “Rila” hotel, through its subsidiary company “Rila Center”. The 10-story building in the top center of the capital was erected in 1962 and until the fall of Todor Zhivkov enjoyed the status of residence of the Central Committee of the BKP.
Only trusted people of the regime have the right to rent a room there, and in the kitchen food is prepared daily for Dad and the other communist greats. After the changes, the hotel’s glory faded, and the dilapidated building was taken over by Vasil Bozhkov.
In 2017, the gambling boss sold the Rila hotel to a company close to Brendo for 10 million euros. At that time, the Cocaine King was already wanted by Interpol, but this did not prevent him from investing his millions in our country.
After the deal, a project was launched to renovate the hotel and build a huge office center. Apparently, the honor of returning the shine to the social hotel will fall to the bourgeois Todor Shterev.
