nShift: Belgian companies must act quickly to meet minimum delivery option requirements

LONDON

Belgium’s online retailers have just 16 days to comply with a new legal requirement that gives their customers more delivery options to choose from. The new law requires webshops and e-commerce retailers in Belgium to offer consumers at least two delivery options from September 21. Retailers are free to choose the delivery option, but (at least) one of the options must be environmentally friendly.

Therefore, nShiftthe global leader in Delivery & Experience Management (DMXM), is launching a new limited-time offer to help retailers meet these new demands and deliver a better customer experience. New customers in Belgium will receive a 25% discount on a subscription to an nShift solution for six months.

Sean-Sherwin Smith, Product Director, Post Purchase at nShift, comments: “The new law changes the way online retailers operate in Belgium. The new requirement puts sustainability and customer friendliness at the centre. Following this significant change in the regulatory landscape, multi-carrier capability must play a central role in retailers’ operational processes.

“Sustainability is an important component of nShift’s offering. Our range of more than 1,000 carrier companies offers a variety of sustainable last-mile solutions. Our checkout feature makes it easy to quickly mark and highlight more sustainable delivery options so customers can quickly find what they are looking for.”

Multi-carrier capability

Retailers can respond to these changes more easily and efficiently by working with a shipping management partner that allows them to use multiple carriers. In addition to meeting new regulatory requirements, working with multiple carriers allows retailers to offer customers real choice, respond flexibly to changing consumer expectations, and accelerate business growth. Multi-carrier shipping offers retailers the following benefits:

  • Offer multiple delivery options – customers expect to find the shipping solution they prefer

  • Higher shipping capacities – making it easier to respond to increased demand

  • Improved delivery quality and efficiency – providing meaningful data on the performance of each carrier

  • Cross-border growth – international shipping requires relationships with carriers that cover relevant regions

  • Brand building and follow-up sales with customers – through comprehensive control over customer communication

Multi-carrier capability is at the heart of nShift’s DMXM suite, enabling enterprise-wide shipping management with a library of more than 1000 prepared carrier connections. nShift can connect retailers and consumers to more than a million PUDO (pick-up/drop-off) locations. Automating the carrier booking process and label printing helps retailers ship more packages, collaborate with more carriers, and monitor delivery end-to-end.

Sherwin-Smith added: “Companies affected by the new law should act quickly, but it is important to make the necessary adjustments in a scalable and sensible way. They need to work with a partner who offers them choice and convenience – especially in terms of environmentally friendly carriers and emissions tracking capabilities.”
