Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has said his memorable football moment was when Chelsea won the 2012 UEFA Champions League.
With legends like Petr Cech, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, David Luiz, Juan Mata and John Obi Mikel, Chelsea secured their first Champions League title, beating Bayern Munich on penalties at the Allianz Arena, the Bundesliga giants’ joke ground.
Bayern looked set to be crowned European champions after Thomas Muller gave them the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining.
But Drogba equalised from a corner late in the game and then scored the winning penalty.
Asked by the host of popular football channel, Football Fans Tribe, about his memorable football moment that is not related to him, Ndidi said: “I would say my best football moment as a kid was when Chelsea won the 2012 UEFA Champions League.
“I was crying because I was a big fan of Mikel Obi when I was a kid.”
Chelsea have since won a second Champions League title, in 2021 under German coach Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues became European champions after a 1-0 win over favourites Manchester City, thanks to Kai Havertz’s first-half goal.
