A peculiar pre-election… alliance, at least for procedural issues, is being formed between the PASOK presidential candidates Hari Doukas, Nadias Giannakopoulos, Anna Diamantopoulos! In a joint letter sent by their representatives to the Ethics, Statute Implementation and Certification Committee (EDEKAP) they demand to ensure that in the context of the October 6 election process for a new PASOK leadership there will be equal treatment of all presidential candidates, without creating suspicions of favoritism or exclusions of candidates!
Essentially, the three are converging on procedure, expressing disbelief about the choices being made, particularly regarding the increase in the number of electoral divisions in relation to the internal party elections of 2021 and their distribution. In fact, they recalled that the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis (who is running for re-election), had pointed out at the meeting of the Central Political Committee on June 30, 2024, that the Electoral Process will follow the standards of the 2021 Electoral Process.
This movement of the “three” is important as it takes place at a time when the issue of the Duke candidacy and the constitutional obstacle has been stirred up, as well as the efforts to build …informal alliances with an eye also on the round of elections (October 13th).
In their letter, Haris Doukas, Nadia Giannakopoulou and Anna Diamantopoulou, through their representatives (respectively Marinos Skandamis, Marinos Marinis and Vassilis Vrachiotis) set out a fourfold set of necessary conditions for an electoral process of equal treatment.
In more detail, they raised the following four points:
“1. No decision can be taken to add or reduce polling stations or divisions without prior notification of the candidate Presidents and without their unanimous majority vote.
2. The declaration must be made immediately after the submission of supporting signatures, since the declaration criteria are easily applicable.
3. The updated list of members – which we were informed by you will be drawn up by September 9th – will be delivered intact the next day to the candidate Presidents.
4. We consider it self-evident that the representatives of the candidate Presidents will be invited to every EDEKAP meeting. We declare once again our absolute commitment to the goal of an open, participatory and extroverted electoral process that will serve PASOK – Movement for Change of high ideals”.
