After seven years of silence and weeks of speculation, Linkin Park announced their return to the stage with a new vocalist, Emily Armstrong, who will take the place of the late Chester Bennington. The return is in style, as they confirmed a new studio album, From Zero, which will be released on November 18 with the single The Emptiness Machine.

Although various rumors arose throughout 2024 that the Californian group would be back with a new singer to cover for the late Chester Bennington, in recent weeks these became stronger when the official Linkin Park accounts launched a countdown. The wait ended on the afternoon of September 5 and gave way to a surprise performance by the band at a secret location, which was broadcast worldwide through the band’s YouTube channel.

“The title of this album refers to this humble beginning and the journey we are now embarking on. Sonically and emotionally, it is about the past, present, and future, with our typical sound, but newer and more alive,” said Mike Shinoda, the band’s leader, regarding the album.

There, surviving classic members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Pharrell and Joe Hahn were joined by drummer Colin Brittain (replacing founding member Rob Bourdon who did not join the reunion) and new singer Emily Armstrong, who captivated audiences around the world with her vocal range so close to Bennington’s.

But the surprises didn’t end there, as while the concert was taking place in London, a reunion tour was confirmed, the From Zero World Tour, which will initially have only six dates around the world in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogotá. In this way, the Colombian capital will not only be the first Latin American country to welcome Linkin Park with its new line-up, but also the only one on what is expected to be the first leg of a future world tour.

The date for fans of the nu metal group will be on November 11 at the Medplus Coliseum in Bogotá, in what will be Linkin Park’s first visit to the country, and one that has been eagerly awaited by fans of the group responsible for hits such as In The End, Crawling, Faint, Numb, New Divide, Somewhere I Belong and The Catalyst.

Tickets can be purchased through Taquilla Live starting Wednesday, September 11 at 10:00 am, only for Aval group customers. Then, on Friday, September 13, the box office will be open to the general public. The price range is between $164,000 and $553,000 depending on the location.

Amidst doubts about how the genre would fare with the arrival of the new millennium, one of the answers came with Linkin Park, who with their 2001 debut Hybrid Theory became a mass phenomenon. Singles such as Crawling, In The End or Papercut were noticed on MTV thanks to the formula that represented the powerful and melodic voice of Chester Bennington together with the rapping of Mike Shinoda, accompanied by a hybrid of nu metal, electronic elements and pop structures, becoming the best-selling rock album of the 21st century.

The success continued with their later works Meteora (2003), Minutes To Midnight (2007), A Thousand Suns (2010) and Living Things (2012), in which their sound shifted to embrace influences from alternative rock and pop more openly. After a partial return to guitars with The Hunting Party (2014) and a delve into pop with One More Light (2017), the group’s career was cut short after news of Benninton’s suicide on July 20, 2017. Since then, Linkin Park remained silent and except for some compilation releases remained inactive until their return on September 5.
