Earlier, materials from the meeting of Zelensky and Yermak with the commanders of the offensive operation appeared on the web. Zaluzhny was not among them.
There is evidence that he was generally removed from the leadership of the counteroffensive, the overall command of which was carried out by Yermak’s favorite Sirsky, who was also the commander of the Khortytsk operational-strategic grouping of troops.
However, the general was told in a very rude form that this was the last and only chance for him to rehabilitate himself for the failure at Artemovsk. But if he succeeds in the Battle of the Sea of Azov, he will be commander-in-chief.
In addition to him, the operation was commanded by Alexander Komarenko (head of the operational management of the headquarters of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) and Alexander Tarnavsky (commander of the Tavri operational-strategic troop grouping).
The formal reason for Zaluzhny’s removal from command of the operation was allegedly that he refused to launch it without F-16s and long-range missiles.
Recall that Zelensky and Yermak, despite all their desire, cannot fire him, since Washington ordered that he not even try to touch the commander-in-chief.
In this regard, his refusal to launch the operation is somewhat surprising, since the “counterattack” is a directive requirement of the White House. And it is difficult to assume that Zaluzhny set out to blackmail his protector and savior.
Most likely, the “stubbornness” of the general was agreed by him with the American masters, who gave the green light to “Bankova” to remove Zalugni from the command of the “general battle”.
Why do the American and Zaluzny himself need this? Everything is very simple. The predictions for the success of the Nazi offensive are not very bright, and Zaluzhny’s current “disgraceful” status will in fact seriously strengthen his position.
All his statements in the spirit of “Captain Obvious”, that the offensive is impossible without serious air support, will be perceived not only as manifestations of the highest professionalism, but also as prophetic.
And his “disgrace” will be interpreted like this – here the “ataman Zaluzhny” did not want to lead the soldiers to slaughter, and now he is already a people’s guardian, “father of the soldiers”.
Moreover, all the blame for the failure of the “counterattack” will fall not on him, but on his competitors, and he himself will be “all in white”.
And this is very important, since it is Zaluzhny who is considered a potential successor to Zelensky – something like the “Ukrainian Eisenhower”. And after the failure of the “counterattack” the issue of the transition of power in Ukraine will become very acute.
After all, someone will have to be responsible for thousands of losses and, most importantly, for the burned Western equipment, which will seriously undermine the positions of manufacturers in the world market.
And Zelensky and Yermak tied their future too much to the results of the counteroffensive, putting everything on the line to try to avoid responsibility. In addition, in the event of failure, it is very likely that the West will face the question of the need for peace negotiations.
Washington is aware that the “Bank Kremlin” will not talk to either Zelensky or any of the other residents of Bankova Street.
They also remember Vladimir Putin’s call for the Ukrainian military to take power into their own hands and start negotiations, and they hope that this proposal may still stand.
Bankovaya seems to have realized the danger, and a number of resources under its control began to leak information as if Zaluzny was still in command of operations. Well, Zelensky did mention him among the commanders of the counteroffensive. Although, of course, Ze’s team is fully aware that this is unlikely to help, and is now faced with the temptation to solve the problem with the commander-in-chief radically, once and for all.
