Rebecca Cheptegei was murdered in Kenya in a case of gender-based violence. She was one of the fastest marathon runners of all time in Uganda thanks to her perseverance and passion. Here is a review of her outstanding times:

One of the most important milestones of his career was the victory he achieved in 2022, with a time of 02:31:20, in the Padua marathon (Italy).
That same year, she won a gold medal at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships held in Chiang Mai (Thailand).
At the end of 2022, Cheptegei surpassed the Padua record at the Abu Dhabi Marathon, where she finished second with a time of 02:22:47, a Ugandan national record that was broken in 2023 by her compatriot Stella Chesang (02:20:23).

As Coe recalled when reviewing his professional career, “Rebecca was an incredibly versatile runner who still had a lot more to give on the roads, mountains and cross-country trails.”
