1,700 Euro donation for Stars for Kids

The “Family Day” of the “Delmenhorst Bulldogs”, the football division of the DTB, was a complete success. The event also had a positive “aftermath” for Stars for Kids. The non-profit organization received 1,700 euros from the organizers. This was the proceeds from a raffle that took place on the day of the game.

“Our eyes opened wide when we heard the amount of donations,” said Britta Burke from the Stars for Kids association, which carries out children’s aid projects in Delmenhorst and finances the children’s lunch at the children’s and youth centers in Delmenhorst. More than 700 guests attended the Family Day on August 25, which took place as part of the home game against the Hildesheim Invaders 2.0 at the DTB sports facility Am Kleinen Meer.

In addition to a variety of programs for the whole family and an award ceremony for emergency services, there was also a tombola for a good cause that day, which was announced several times during the event.

“Melly was in charge of selling the tickets,” says Horst “Blacky” Dräger, who not only hosted the day with football influencer Stephy Schutta, but also played a key role in organizing the event. “Melly” refers to Melanie “Melly” Rohrmann-Ullner, who sells merchandise for the Bulldogs in her shop “Melly’s kleine Stoffelei,” among other things. The numerous prizes, ranging from giveaways to sightseeing flights to the main prize, a bicycle, had been collected and stacked in her private living room beforehand.

Welcome donation

The four-figure donation is extremely welcome for the Stars for Kids association. “We fight for every month,” says Britta Burke. The costs for food and energy have increased massively recently. Over 30,000 euros per year in subsidies from Stars for Kids are now needed for the children’s lunch.
