From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Gaisberg is car-free!
However, with bus line 151 you can still comfortably reach the summit in 31 minutes.

On Sunday, September 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Gaisberg will once again be transformed into a car-free zone. All motor vehicles will be banned from driving between the Brauhausstraße junction and the Gaisbergspitze (of course, this does not apply to residents and guests of establishments with a confirmed reservation). With this campaign, the City of Salzburg and its partners are sending a strong signal for greater environmental awareness and a more livable city.
“On this day, visitors can enjoy the unique nature of the Gaisberg without disturbing traffic. Whether on foot, by bike or by public transport – the Gaisberg invites you to hike, walk or just relax,” says Gaisberg coordinator Florian Kreibich and continues: “With the car-free day, we want to improve air quality, reduce noise levels and increase the quality of life for everyone.”
Gaisberg bus: A comfortable 31-minute ride to the summit
If you want to have a stress-free and comfortable stay, you can use the Gaisberg bus (line 151), which – thanks to an increased frequency – takes you from Mirabell Square directly to the local mountain every 22 minutes.
