Raleigh hits homer and sacrifice fly to lead Mariners past A’s 6-4 | Sports

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Cal Raleigh hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the fifth, Julio Rodriguez also homered and the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 6-4 on Thursday night in their final scheduled visit to the Coliseum.

Luke Raley added a two-run homer in the ninth inning as the Mariners moved within 4 1/2 games of the AL West-leading Houston Astros.

Bryan Woo (7-2) struck out six and walked none in five innings to win in his home Bay Area.

The right-hander has wins in his last two decisions, against the Athletics and San Francisco. He has allowed two runs and eight hits and has five or more strikeouts in six of his last seven starts.

Rodriguez’s homer in the third was his 14th of the year for Seattle, which was coming off a 16-3 victory on Wednesday night.

Oakland starter Joey Estes (6-7), who has lost three of his last four decisions, allowed four runs and six hits in four innings before manager Mark Kotsay turned to his bullpen.
