Hundreds of protesters took part in two simultaneous protests against Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahunear his residence in Jerusalem, and in the northern city of Caesarwhere he has his second residence, demanding his resignation and the signing of an agreement with Hamas for the release of the hostages.

“Until he leaves, until he takes the blame”they chanted angrily after a day marked by the call for the first general strike, which ended at noon by order of the courts.

Public anger against the Israeli president has skyrocketed following the discovery of the bodies of six hostages in the Gaza Strip early Saturday morning by the Army.

The Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed that the six hostages were “executed by Hamas” between Thursday and Friday, just a few days before they were found by troops.

“Your decisions are leading to your deaths,” he shouted. Nissan Calderonbrother of the hostage Ofer Calderonon a stage set up near Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem.

Relatives of the hostages blame Netanyahu for the deaths of the six hostages because he failed to sign a truce agreement with Hamas in recent months that would have allowed the captives to be released alive.

“This agreement represents not only the best chance of saving lives but also the only path to a better future for the entire region.”according to a statement from the Forum of Hostage Relatives on Monday.

The text also welcomes the fact that the government of US President Joe Biden is working on preparing a new ceasefire draft, as leaked today in the US media.

“We urge Netanyahu to demonstrate similar resilience, determination and commitment to the lives of the hostages.”they indicate in the statement. EFE (I)
