ReMarkable has announced the Paper Pro, the company’s first e-ink tablet with a color display and backlight. The 11.8” display supports nine colors when writing with the stylus. The reMarkable Paper Pro is available now for $649.
Of tablet has a reMarkable-customized Canvas Color display that has a latency of 12ms, 40 percent lower than the reMarkable 2. The company will continue to sell that tablet, by the way, alongside the Paper Pro. Unlike other e-ink displays, the Canvas Color display doesn’t use a color filter to display colors; instead, the e-ink pixels are colored, reMarkable writes. This allows for a thinner display.
ReMarkable says the color screen will let users take notes in red or highlight things in yellow, for example. The included stylus will let users write or draw in nine colors, and the screen itself supports “thousands” of colors. The tablet is also the first ReMarkable tablet to feature backlighting, so it can be used in dark environments.
The Paper Pro’s body is made of aluminum and glass, and the device is 5.1mm thick. According to reMarkable, the tablet can last up to two weeks on a full charge. ReMarkable is also releasing a keyboard cover for the Paper Pro. The Paper Pro costs 649 euros and comes with a Marker stylus. The Marker Plus stylus costs an additional 50 euros and has, among other things, a built-in eraser. The keyboard cover costs 249 euros. The Paper Pro is available for purchase immediately.
