ICEHL: Black Wings Linz suffer shutout defeat against Budweis – Hockey-News.info

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz suffered a 0:3 defeat in their last preseason home game against České Budějovice. Despite good chances, the Upper Austrians failed to score, and the two teams will face each other again in the Czech Republic on Friday.

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz line-up was filled for the test against Budweis: Tirronen returned to goal, in front of him all except Andreas Kristler, Brodi Stuart and Nico Feldner were in the game. In the first period, the Upper Austrians were unable to capitalize on power play situations, and the first break was goalless. In the 23rd minute, the Czechs took the lead on the power play and took the narrow lead into the third period.

The home team then set the tone for long stretches. But shortly after Collins missed a great chance to equalize, Budweis scored with a long-range shot to make it 2-0. In the final minute, the visitors even made it 3-0 with an empty net. This meant that Linz remained goalless for the second time in a row. The two teams will face each other again in the Czech Republic on Friday.
