The silent heroes of health”

Our kidneys: If everything goes well, they do their vital work unnoticed. Because their work is so important, every person has two of these paired, kidney bean-shaped organs. The kidneys clean our average five to six liters of blood around 300 times a day and ensure that waste products are excreted in the urine. And they also play an important role in fluid balance, bone health and blood pressure. But signs of civilization such as an unhealthy diet, obesity, smoking or the long-term use of certain medications can damage the organs. In other cases, kidney disease is present from birth. If a pre-existing disease is already known, it is of course even more important to maintain the function of the organs through a healthy lifestyle.
