Bonn: Video shows police shooting in front of Burger King | Regional

Bonn – Blue lights flicker through the rain, police sirens wail. A man is fiddling with some kind of bag while several police officers point their guns at him. It is not clear from the pictures whether he is reaching for a weapon. Then the man moves towards the officers, two shots are fired – and the man collapses.

An eyewitness filmed the dramatic seconds that took place before the shots were fired. BILD has the video. The injured man was taken to hospital and treated in the intensive care unit. He died there in the early evening.

As BILD learned, the officers deployed belong to the 13th riot police. Bornheimer Strasse and Heinrich-Böll-Ring were cordoned off by the police after the shooting. To ensure that important evidence was not affected by the rain that began to fall, the fire brigade set up two pavilions.

There is currently no information about the identity of the knife-wielding man. According to BILD information, he and the two people attacked belong to the drug scene.

Cologne police take over investigation

The Cologne police have taken over the investigation into the shooting. If police officers fire shots, it is usual for another police authority to take over the case for reasons of neutrality.
